Cathay Pacific Airways today announced that it will launch a new daily service to Newark Liberty International Airport on 1 March 2014, subject to government approval. The city of Newark is located west of Manhattan Island and the new service will complement Cathay Pacific's current four-times-daily service to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York. The launch of the Newark service will provide more convenience and greater flexibility for passengers travelling to and from the New York metropolitan area.
The Newark service will be operated by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft featuring Cathay Pacific's new cabin products, including the awarding-winning Business Class, Premium Economy Class and the new Economy Class seats. Together with the special service provided by Cathay Pacific's cabin crew, recently named the "World's Best Cabin Staff" by Skytrax, and a state-of-the-art inflight entertainment system in all classes, passengers will be provided with the best experience when they travel between Hong Kong and Newark.
Cathay Pacific Chief Executive John Slosar said: "Our New York service has long been popular with business and leisure travellers alike. The addition of the Newark service will provide a more convenient option for business travellers living or working in New Jersey. By providing yet more flights to the New York metropolitan area, we can offer passengers even more choice and flexibility and, at the same time, continue to boost Hong Kong's standing as an international aviation hub."
Newark will become Cathay Pacific's fifth gateway in the United States. The airline currently serves Chicago, Los Angeles, New York (JFK) and San Francisco.
The flight schedule for Cathay Pacific's Newark (EWR) service, effective 1 March 2014, will be as follows (all times local):
