With the July figures included, the airline carried a total of 6.84 million passengers in the first seven months of this year, 16.1% more than the 5.89 million carried in the first half of 1999.

The passenger load factor rose to 83.3% in July, up from 77.4% in June. For the year to date, the passenger load factor rose to 76.8%, eight percentage points higher than in the first seven months of 1999. Cathay Pacific's General Manager Network Revenue Ian Shiu said: "We are seeing further strong growth across our network, with a new monthly passenger record being set in July. We are responding aggressively, taking delivery of new passenger and cargo aircraft which will expand our fleet by 20% over the next 12 months."
