Cathay Pacific Airways carried a total of 962,340 passengers in March, bringing the total for the first three months of the year to 2.78 million, an 8% advance over the year before. The airline also carried 68,559 tonnes of freight, bringing the total for the year to 171,619 tonnes, 11.7% above the same period in 1999.
The strongest growth of passenger demand has been in North Asia with traffic now 13.4% ahead of 1999. The overall passenger load factor for March was 74.6% and the cargo and mail load factor was a strong 78.1%.
Cathay Pacific's General Manager Network Revenue Ian Shiu said: "We are encouraged to see growth continue across most of our routes, particularly heartening is the recovery in one of our largest markets Japan. Cargo has performed exceptionally well in line with the general pick-up in business sentiment across the region."
