Cathay Pacific Senior Management Appointments

Cathay Pacific today announced the appointment of a number of staff to senior positions of the airline as part of regular management movements within the company. They will take up their new positions during the summer.

Mr Augustus Tang is appointed Director Corporate Development. Ms Quince Chong will become Director Service Delivery, and Mr Ron Mathison is appointed Director and General Manager Cargo.

Mr Tang joined Cathay Pacific in 1982 as a management trainee and has held several positions with the airline, including postings to Malaysia and Japan. He has been in his current position Director Corporate Planning since 2000 and is also a Director of Cathay Pacific Catering Services Hong Kong Limited and Air Hong Kong.

Ms Chong joined Cathay Pacific in 1998 as Manager Corporate Communication and was appointed General Manager Inflight Services in August 2000. She has been a Director of Cathay Pacific Catering Services Hong Kong Ltd since September 2000.

Mr Mathison joined Cathay Pacific in 1984 and has held a number of managerial positions overseas as well as in marketing and sales and revenue management. He has been involved in loyalty marketing since January 1995, and launched the Asia Miles Travel Reward Programme in 1999.

In addition, Cathay Pacific has appointed Mr Peter Langslow as General Manager Inflight Services; Ms Anna Thompson as General Manager Airports; Mr Philippe de Gentile-Williams as General Manager Airline Planning; Mr Clement Lam as General Manager Sales HK & China; Mr Dane Cheng as Regional Manager Japan; Mr Patrick Yeung as Regional Manager South East Asia; Mr Dominic Purvis as General Manager Cathay Pacific Loyalty Programmes Ltd and Mr Lionel Kwok Managing Director Cathay Pacific Holidays Ltd.

Cathay Pacific Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive David Turnbull said, "We are delighted to announce these new appointments to our senior management team. Augustus Tang

Augustus Tang joined Cathay Pacific in June 1982 as a Management Trainee. He has held a number of positions in his career with the airline, including postings to the airline's offices in Malaysia and Japan. In 1994, he was seconded to Dragonair as General Manager Planning and International Affairs.

Mr Tang rejoined Cathay Pacific in 1997 as General Manager Business Development. In June 1999 he became General Manager Corporate Planning.

Mr Tang was appointed to the current position since May 2000. He oversees the deployment of Cathay Pacific aircraft, and helps plan the airline's long-term strategic direction.

He is also a Director of Cathay Pacific Catering Services Limited and Air Hong Kong.

Quince Chong
General Manager Inflight Services
Cathay Pacific Airways

Quince Chong joined Cathay Pacific in 1998 as Manager Corporate Communication.

In August 2000, Ms Chong was appointed as General Manager Inflight Services, taking the lead to manage every aspects of inflight services, including the performance of cabin crew, oversees inflight services development and safety standards, catering & equipment supplies, inflight sales, cabin crew communications and training.

Prior to joining Cathay Pacific, Ms Chong was Senior Manager Public Relations for the Hong Kong Tourist Association, where she developed the public relations strategy for overseas markets. She was instrumental in promoting Hong Kong as one of the world's leading tourist destinations pre and post Hong Kong's Handover to the Chinese Mainland.

Ron Mathison
General Manager & Director
Cathay Pacific Loyalty Programmes Ltd

Ron Mathison is the General Manager and Director of Cathay Pacific Loyalty Programmes Ltd, which is a Cathay Pacific subsidiary charged to manage the airline's Loyalty Programmes - The Marco Polo Club and Asia Miles - as well as the airline's Loyalty Marketing strategy.

Mr Mathison is also responsible for determining Cathay Pacific's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) strategy and directing the Customer Information Systems (CIS) Programme, which uses Datawarehousing and Datamining tools to provide business intelligence for better customer and revenue management.

Mr Mathison joined Cathay Pacific in 1984 and has held a number of managerial positions overseas as well as in marketing and sales, and revenue management.

He has been involved in loyalty marketing since January 1995 when he set up Cathay Pacific's Loyalty Marketing Department and managed the launch of the Asia Miles Travel Reward Programme in Feb 1999.
