Cathay Pacific Airways and Philippine Airlines announced today they have signed a codeshare agreement relating to flights between Hong Kong and Cebu. The agreement will take effect on 5 November 2001. Under the agreement, Cathay Pacific will continue to operate seven return flights a week between Hong Kong and Cebu, and Philippine Airlines will place its airline code on the flights.
The two airlines have entered this agreement to help preserve a daily flight between Hong Kong and Cebu which would otherwise be difficult given the challenging conditions facing the airline industry.
On Mondays, Fridays and Sundays, flight CX921/PR921 will depart Hong Kong at 4:00pm and arrive at Cebu at 6:40pm. The return flight CX920/PR920 will leave Cebu at 7:55pm and arrive in Hong Kong at 10:35pm.
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the flight CX921/PR921 will depart Hong Kong at 7:50am and arrive at Cebu at 10:30am. CX920/PR920 will leave Cebu at 11:40am and arrive in Hong Kong at 2:20pm.
Cathay Pacific's Director Sales & Marketing James Barrington said: "We are delighted to have reached this codeshare agreement with Philippine Airlines. The agreement will help both airlines reach more customers through their combined network of offices."
Philippine Airlines's Assistant Vice President, External Affairs, Maria Socorro Gonzaga said: "We are extremely pleased to announce this new Code-Share arrangement with Cathay Pacific giving both airlines more flexibility and improving their efficiency."
