Cathay Pacific Services Limited (CPSL) released its first full year handling tonnage today. In 2014, Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal (CPCT) handled 1.45 million tonnes of cargo. The terminal saw its highest tonnage record on 8th November 2014, handling 5,476 tonnes of cargo on the day.
Traffic at CPCT was largely driven by transhipment in 2014, accounting for 54% of the cargo tonnage throughput. The percentages of import and export cargo tonnage throughput were 15% and 31%, respectively.
CPSL Chief Executive Officer Kelvin Ko said: "2014 was Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal's first full-year of operations. With concerted efforts by our dedicated team, we were able to achieve the highest level of service performance that we promised our customers from the beginning."
CPSL demonstrated its commitment to providing differentiated services in all aspects. At CPCT, consignees can collect inbound cargo after its arrival within 3 hours for passenger flights and 5 hours for freighters. In addition, airlines can now enjoy faster connections for transhipment handling at CPCT, with our pledge to connect the shipments within 5 hours, or 3 hours with prior arrangement. CPSL has also started providing ramp handling service for freighters since July 2014.
"We are glad that customers recognise our value and choose us as their handling agent. We will continue to put our customers first by offering customised services to support their growth plans in the region." Ko added.
CPSL currently serves seven customer airlines, namely AirAsia, Air Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific Airways, Dragonair, EVA Airways Corporation, Royal Brunei Airlines and Thai AirAsia. It has a workforce of over 1,800 people to support the round-the-clock operations at the Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal.
