(HONG KONG) Dragonair has been voted "World's Best Regional Airline" in the annual World Airline Survey™ run by Skytrax, a London-based research organisation which runs the annual survey and the World Airline Awards. This is the first year this award category has been included in the survey.
About 18 million travellers from more than 100 nationalities voted in the survey which was carried out between July 2009 and April 2010. Award winners are determined by measuring over 35 different aspects of passenger satisfaction for product and service standards, covering the experience across both airport and onboard environments.
Dragonair Chief Executive Officer James Tong received the award on behalf of the carrier at the presentation ceremony held at Hamburg, Germany on 20 May.
"It is a great honour for Dragonair to receive the World's Best Regional Airline Award as it represents direct recognition from millions of customers and travellers from around the globe.
"We have been voted Best Airline - China for six consecutive years as well as Best Regional Airline - Southeast Asia in the past. Receiving the World's Best Regional Airline Award reflects Dragonair's continuous commitment to the pursuit of service excellence, by always putting our customers first," Mr Tong said.
"For a Hong Kong-grown airline to be named among the world's best is a matter of great pride not only for us but for the entire Hong Kong community. It is also a great encouragement for us to continue to fly high and stay among the world's best," he added.
Mr Tong also paid tribute to the Dragonair staff for their hard work and dedication over the years.
"This award would not have been possible without the hard work and devotion of the Dragonair staff who strive every day to provide outstanding and exception service to our passengers.
"In the year we celebrate the airline's 25th anniversary, this recognition from Skytrax is without doubt the most special gift Dragonair could have received. I would like to thank Skytrax and all the travellers who voted for us and assure them that we will continue to provide the renowned service Dragonair is known for," Mr Tong said.
