HAECO recognised as “Asia MRO of the Year – Engine” at MRO Asia Pacific Awards 2024

HAECO, a leading global provider of aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) solutions, has been awarded the "Asia MRO of the Year – Engine" title at the 5th MRO Asia Pacific Awards 2024.

Mike Stengel, Principal Advisory of AeroDynamic and a member of the judging panel commended HAECO, stating, “HAECO has established itself as a leader in Rolls-Royce and GE engine technologies, offering state-of-the-art facilities and the capability to handle both legacy and new technology engines. Their dedication to innovation, including the adoption of AI and new partnerships like the one with Aviation Services Research Centre (ASRC), demonstrates their forward-thinking approach and commitment to continuously improving efficiency and performance.”

Richard Sell, Chief Executive Officer of the HAECO Group said, “We are extremely honoured to receive the “Asia MRO of the Year – Engine” award. Our reputation for delivering best-in-class engine MRO services to global airline customers is built on our joint ventures and long-term agreements with industry-leading OEMs, supported by our extensive global engine support network.”

He continued, “2024 has been an incredibly successful year for HAECO, highlighted by extended agreements with GE for GE90 and GE9X engines, as well as a new service agreement for the LEAP engine with Safran. This award is a shining recognition of our comprehensive engine service offerings, commitment to quality, operational efficiency, innovation, sustainable development, and the strong partnerships we have cultivated with key industry players.”

Since its establishment in 1950, HAECO has established a strong reputation for its cutting-edge engine expertise across strategic locations in Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. Its industry leadership leverages the combined capabilities of its three engine business entities:

  • HAECO Engine Services (HES): Provides full overhaul, testing and component repair services for GE90 engines and is the sole holder of a GE90 Branded Service Agreement in Asia. HES is currently developing capability for CF34-10A and GE9X engines and will be serving as the second shop in the GE global MRO network to provide maintenance support for GE9X engines.
  • Hong Kong Aero Engine Services Limited (HAESL): A joint venture with Rolls-Royce offering full overhaul, testing and Component Repair services on RB211, Trent 700, 800, XWB-84 / 97, and T1000-10 modules. HAESL is the only approved Trent XWB-97 facility in the world outside of the Rolls-Royce shop in Derby.
  • HAECO Global Engine Support: Provides 24-hour on-wing and near-wing support for a wide variety of engine types with strategic locations in Hong Kong, Dallas, London, the Middle East, and Amsterdam.

In addition to providing unparalleled engine MRO services for GE and Rolls-Royce engines, HAECO has recently secured a long-term agreement with Safran Aircraft Engines for the installation of the reverse bleed system (RBS) on LEAP engines. As the first supplier appointed by Safran to provide these services, HAECO reinforces its position as a trusted provider of exceptional engine services and its commitment to driving innovation in the aviation industry.

Organised by Aviation Week, the MRO Asia Pacific Awards celebrates innovation in the aviation and aerospace sector by paying tribute to pioneers across eight categories, each symbolising a distinct pillar of excellence. The awards presentation was held concurrently with the MRO Asia Pacific show taking place in Singapore from 24 to 26 September.
