Swire Pacific Advances its Commitment to Sustainability

The Group continues to make progress towards its 2030 targets

Swire Pacific (the Group) is pleased to announce several milestones in its Sustainability Report 2024 (the Report), reflecting its ongoing commitment to its SwireTHRIVE sustainable development strategy. These achievements highlight the Group's dedication to reducing its environmental impact, promoting inclusion and supporting local communities. 

The Report covers Swire Pacific's diversified businesses, including Property, Beverages and Aviation. Highlights for 2024 include: 

• Allocating approximately HK$90 million to innovative cleantech solutions that reduce the carbon, waste and water footprint of its operating companies via the Swire Pacific Sustainable Development Fund.
• Increasing the amount of sustainable finance as a proportion of the Group's total financing to 55%.
• Increasing the proportion of the Group's electricity use from renewable sources to 33%.
• Surpassing its 2024 gender diversity target for women on the Board; now 33% of members of the Swire Pacific Board of Directors are women.
• Distributing HK$47 million to local programmes through the Swire Group Charitable Trust (Swire Trust).
• Setting up a Group Sustainability Committee chaired by the Group Finance Director and comprising finance, risk and sustainability leads from Core Divisions.
• Becoming an adopter of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD).

In 2024, Swire Pacific remained on track to achieving its 2030 environmental targets. Progress included a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from the 2018 baseline, moving closer to its goal of a 50% reduction by 2030. Waste diversion from landfill reached 61%, nearing the 65% target by 2030. Freshwater withdrawal was reduced by 23% compared with the 2018 frozen efficiency baseline, progressing towards a 30% reduction by 2030. The Group achieved its 2024 gender diversity target for women on the Board, with women now comprising 33% of the Board. Additionally, Swire Pacific drove positive change in the community by distributing HK$47 million through the Swire Trust and making charitable contributions totalling HK$132 million from the Group and its Operating Companies.
