Swire Properties’ Arts Month 2025 Invites Audiences To Explore Nature and The Cosmos

Swire Properties’ Arts Month 2025 Invites Audiences To Explore Nature and The Cosmos

Crystal art artist Sara Shakeel and Turner Prize-nominee Monster Chetwynd headline this year’s celebration with transformative and fantastical art installations

Swire Properties’ highly-anticipated annual arts and culture event, Arts Month 2025, returns with a hand-picked selection of visionary and site-specific installations at Pacific Place and at Taikoo Place that will immerse visitors in the infinite wonders of the natural world.

This year, as the Company celebrates its 13th year of partnership with Art Basel Hong Kong, the festivities include a new milestone, with The Upper House becoming one of the Fair’s official partner hotels. As part of the Arts Month 2025 programme, The Upper House will also present a live painting experience featuring the internationally-renowned, post-digital art collective Random International.

Tim Blackburn, Chief Executive of Swire Properties, said, “We’re delighted to once again bring a host of captivating art experiences to Hong Kong during Swire Properties’ Arts Month 2025. This year’s theme is especially meaningful as it aligns with our commitment to sustainability and contributes perfectly to our placemaking efforts. As Hong Kong continues to raise its profile as an international hub for arts and culture, we’re proud to support the city’s efforts and bolster the creative industries, while continuing our mission of making art and culture a part of everyday life.”

SWIRE PROPERTIES ARTS MONTH 2025 – HIGHLIGHTS

Taikoo Place will offer ArtisTree Selects: The Jewel System by Sara Shakeel – two transformative and signature art installations at ArtisTree and at Two Taikoo Place. “The Jewel System” is a life-sized reinterpretation of the solar system as a living and ‘intimate’ experience using centuries-old embroidery techniques from Pakistan; while “Genesis in Jewels” at Two Taikoo Place reconceptualises the very spark of existence through a tangible and emotional experience using an interplay of light, crystals and the cosmos’ vast blackness.

For the third consecutive year, Pacific Place will host the only offsite project for Art Basel Hong Kong’s Encounters – with a site-specific installation. Monster Chetwynd’s Lanternfly Ballet pays homage to Hong Kong’s lantern bug and woodlands, as well as the city’s rich biodiversity. It will transform the Mall into a fantastical ecosystem, blending live performances with this nature-themed, life-sized sculpture.

A stone’s throw away at the Starstreet Precinct will be Beauty and Gesture (La Beauté et le Geste), a sculptural installation by French contemporary artist Laurent Perbos. Inspired by the renowned Greek sculpture Venus de Milo, the installation comprises six reimaginations of the Venus statue, each holding specific Olympic sports equipment. This piece is visiting Hong Kong following its debut during the 2024 Paris Olympics and a tour in the Chinese Mainland.

This year, Swire Properties’ VIP Lounge “Intersection” at Art Basel Hong Kong will showcase a striking timber lattice canopy and metallic flooring, designed using recycled materials from Swire Properties’ previous developments. Aligning with the Company’s long-term goal of hosting sustainable events, parts of the Lounge will be recycled after the Fair. This space will also feature the always popular live Dialogue Series, featuring thought-provoking discussions with industry experts and opinion leaders on art, design and contemporary culture.

The Upper House  will host an exclusive live painting performance by renowned post-digital art group Random International, in partnership with The Glen Grant single malt Scotch whisky. Performances and an unveiling of the latest ultra-rare release from the distillery will be open to the public to attend from 27 to 28 March from 12 pm to 3 pm. The artist will also speak during The Upper House’s signature fireside series ‘Up Close’, as well as during the Swire Properties Dialogue Series.

EAST Hong Kong
is celebrating Arts Month 2025 with an exclusive three-part installation by French artist THE FRENCH GIRL (Caroline Tronel) titled The Giant Crushed Cans Series. This multifaceted exhibition reimagines discarded objects as powerful symbols of transformation, urging audiences to rethink waste and sustainability through artistic experiences. Elements include three bronze sculptures – the official debut of the THE FRENCH GIRL’s bronze works in Hong Kong, and a collaborative wall of upcycled cans co-created between the EAST Hong Kong team and the local community.
