TEXL Expands GE90 Engine Overhaul Facility

Taikoo Engine Services (Xiamen) Company Limited ("TEXL") celebrated the opening of its expanded GE90 engine overhaul facility today. The Phase 2 facility includes a two-storey building with a floor area of 17,500 square metres. Together with new plant and equipment, the expansion allows TEXL to provide full GE90-110/115B engine overhaul capability. The expansion is sited adjacent to the existing 3,500 square metres facility, which includes a state-of-the-art, 150,000 pounds of thrust engine test cell.

TEXL specialises in the repair, overhaul and test of GE90 series engines and has in place a 22-year GE90 Branded Service Agreement ("GBSA") with GE Aviation, which licenses the Company as an authorised GE90TM Service Provider, GE90 Center of Excellence and the sole holder of a GE90 "GBSA" in Asia. TEXL has the right of access to and the provision of GE's technology, inventory, resources, and training. Together with the close working relationship between GE and TEXL and the work practices mentoring from GE, TEXL ensures the delivery of high quality services.

TEXL was established in July 2008 as a joint venture between Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited ("HAECO"), Taikoo (Xiamen) Aircraft Engineering Company Limited ("TAECO"), Cathay Pacific Airways Limited and Xiamen Aviation Industry Company Limited. The Company provides a comprehensive range of overhaul and repair services for GE90 series engines including Performance Restoration shop visits, Quick Turn shop visits, Module Level Services, Component Repair and Full Engine Test. TEXL commenced operations in early 2010.

Most recently, TEXL received Part 145 certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) that allows the facility to perform complete overhaul of the GE90-110B and 115B engine models. TEXL has completed 18 GE90 engines from seven customers since July 2010.
