Two Taikoo Place wins top industry award – 2024 ULI Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence

Taikoo Place portfolio receives this prestigious real estate accolade  for the second time

Two Taikoo Place, the newest triple Grade-A office tower at Taikoo Place, was recently named a winner of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) 2024 Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence, at the 2024 ULI Asia Pacific Summit in Tokyo. This is the second time that Taikoo Place has received this distinguished award after Taikoo Place, as a whole, was awarded this accolade in 2020.

The ULI Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence recognise exceptional real estate projects and programmes that go beyond architectural and design excellence to consider the full development process. Two Taikoo Place was the only recipient from Hong Kong among the 12 winners hand-picked from a list of 44 exceptional submissions.

Don Taylor, Director, Office at Swire Properties, said, “Once again we are honoured to receive this incredible award in recognition of the architectural quality and the forward-thinking design of Two Taikoo Place which was designed and built with people in mind, offering user-centric and biophilic features that enhance productivity and promote wellbeing. In addition, Two Taikoo Place fully incorporates the latest ESG-related considerations making it one of the most resilient buildings in the city. We are very proud of this newest addition to Taikoo Place which reinforces our location as a Global Business District. We look forward to continuing our placemaking efforts to create even more vibrant office communities in the future.”

Alan Beebe, CEO of ULI Asia Pacific, said, “In its sixth edition, the ULI Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence celebrates the region's most successful and innovative urban developments - projects that excel across the full spectrum, from architecture and design, to planning and construction, resilience and sustainability, and economics and management. Two Taikoo Place is a prime example, impressing the judges ‘not only with its remarkably challenging design manifested by the curved frameless tension glass wall, but also the human-centric features that it owns, and the positive impact it brings to the community’. In particular, it scored high marks in sustainability, technology, and health and wellness.”

Building Excellence at Two Taikoo Place

Completed in September 2022, Two Taikoo Place features 42 storeys of premium office space with a total GFA of approximately 1,000,000 sq. ft. This office tower was designed with sustainability in mind and achieved Platinum ratings in LEED, WELL and BEAM Plus. It’s also among the first buildings in the city to achieve WiredScore and SmartScore platinum ratings in recognition of its best-in-class smart infrastructure and advanced connectivity.

Two Taikoo Place enjoys seamless connectivity through the elevated air-conditioned walkways that connect all the office buildings in Taikoo Place. Located on Two Taikoo Place’s doorstep are Taikoo Square and Taikoo Garden – two landscaped gardens with cascading water features that immerse tenants and the wider community in 70,000 sq. ft. of greenery elevating the overall visitor experience while enhancing wellbeing. The biophilic design also promotes biodiversity in Taikoo Place.

Two Taikoo Place, as a highly resilient and “future-proofed” building, was designed with climate-related risk in mind. The façade can withstand 150% of the strongest winds ever recorded in the city. Storm drainage was specifically designed to exceed the minimum requirements and electricity is supplied from two separate power substations in different geographical areas to ensure uninterrupted power supply. In addition, Two Taikoo Place has adopted an entire-lifecycle carbon reduction strategy and features high-quality, urban green spaces that absorb CO2 and mitigate the urban heat island effect.

The building’s design draws inspiration from Swire’s long history in Quarry Bay. Sugar cube-like lanterns are suspended in the main lobby, paying homage to the original Taikoo Sugar Refinery, while water features at Taikoo Square and Taikoo Garden resemble dock-like silhouettes, mimicking the Taikoo Dockyard and honouring the Group's maritime and trading history.

As part of the wider Taikoo Place community, Two Taikoo Place’s tenants can also participate in the multitude of wellness-inspired tenant engagement programmes and events throughout the year, including the Taikoo Place Business Network, the Tong Chong Street Market and the White Christmas Street Fair.
