During a recent Open Day at Xiamen University, HAECO Xiamen, as part of the Swire Group, took part in a donation ceremony with the Xiamen University Education Development Foundation to mark Swire’s commitment to donating RMB 5.46 million over the next three years. This donation will enable the Dongshan Swire Marine Station to conduct long-term marine monitoring and scientific research, and organise marine education and scientific activities. It will also facilitate the creation of a marine conservation alliance aimed at raising public awareness of marine protection.
The collaboration between Swire and Xiamen University began in 2011 with a donation of RMB 5.6 million for the construction of the Dongshan Swire Marine Station. The project was completed in 2017 and has made a significant impact on advancing marine science studies and enhancing marine conservation.
During the Open Day, more than 70 interactive booths provided information about marine science to the public. Swire and its operating companies shared their environmental protection practices and charity projects at their respective booths, demonstrating Swire’s commitment to environmental protection and helping the public understand more about marine protection.
